Friday 2nd August - walk **** – Landguard circuit including picnic by
the Orwell – rain early then sunny and hot.
Woke up to some rain but that quickly cleared and it turned out sunny and
hot again so with no wind toady we could relax having a nice morning in our
garden. As we had to do a big shop at Lidl we decided to pack a picnic and
head to Landguard for a walk around the Nature Reserve arriving at 12.45
and it was pretty warm but you got a bit of a breeze now and again! There
are loads of teasels and masses of yellow flowers and we turned off to
Landguard Fort and walked up to the gun bunkers to get a good look over the
Orwell. It was surprisingly quiet on the beach considering what a lovely
day it was, there was a kayak on the beach and we later learned the man had
paddled over from Harwich! We then continued onto our spot on the old jetty
to enjoy our lunch watching the action on the Orwell including a fishing
boat and several yachts with a coaster coming in as we left! We then headed
over to the fantastic Landguard beach and I paddled all the way back to the
sea wall. Back at the van we headed to Lidl and home for a lovely visit
from our friends the Hurrells, top day:)
PS – I was surprised to get an BBC editors pick on both Saturday and
Sunday and was lucky enough to get one on this evenings Look East, sadly it
is of our backs:)
